With the emergence of colder weather and holiday treats, it’s easy to fall victim to the fashionista’s version of a writer’s block. I admit, I’ve had a lack of fashion inspiration lately, and haven’t wanted to do much other than curl up in my bed watching the Carrie Diaries and sipping hot tea. But, sadly, I can’t do that every day.
I thought about why I might be experiencing a lack of motivation and how to switch that around, and I came to the conclusion that it was because my life (and wardrobe) is lacking a little color. And what easier way to bring more color into my life than through my outfit? For this look, I wanted to break out from typical moody fall colors and incorporate a color I often underestimate-blue. I layered a polka dot tank over a t-shirt and paired with ripped skinny jeans, and then added a baby blue suede jacket, maroon booties, and a statement necklace to complete this colorful ensemble.
This outfit might not have completely brought me out of my inspiration funk, but it certainly showed me a new way of thinking about blues.
