Street Style for a Steal

Street Style for a Steal

Being a broke college student at a fashion school is hard; I’m always keeping up with the newest trends yet I can never afford to go out and buy them. That’s why thrift shopping has been my saving grace for looking stylish on a budget.

The key to thrift shopping is to go in knowing what silhouettes, colors, and looks are in style. Fashion is often recycled and comes back into style after a few decades (i.e. the resurgence of the 70’s and 80’s), which makes it easy to find things while thrifting that are back in style.

For this post, I recreated 3 of my favorite street style looks with pieces that I’ve thrifted or bought for very cheap. Let me know if you guys enjoy this budget friendly post and if you want more!

I recreated this look worn by Camila Coelho (@camilacoelho) during Paris fashion week by pairing a thrifted neon green turtleneck ( trend alert!) with a thrifted Elie Tahari cargo dress. I completed the look with a thrifted clutch, $25 H&M sneakers, and $5 Charlotte Russe sunglasses.

Cost: $40

I made my own version of Sheryl Luke (@walkinwonderland)’s street style look by pairing high waist thrifted red pants with a $10 t-shirt from Dillards and accessorized with a thrifted beaded bag, $6 sunglasses, and black Nordstrom flats (I don’t remember the price)

Cost: $22 (minus the shoes)

I remade this look by matching a thrifted mens button-up shirt with $3 Forever 21 biker shorts. For accessories, I went with $20 Payless pumps, a $25 Forever 21 bag, a $7 Forever 21 necklace, $10 sunglasses and some random bangles I borrowed from Elle. This one was a little more costly just because of the amount of accessories.

Cost: $68

XOXO,
