From pattern clashing to animal prints to neon, this autumn is all about making a statement. But as much as I love making a statement with clothing, sometimes these trends are a little impractical and seem to be unwearable for class or even the workplace. I picked out a few of the most prominent trends this fall and showed you some ways I would style them down.
Let me know in the comments below if you guys like these trend posts or if you’d like to see me try something different this fall! I also thought it might be fun to do a look book recreating some fall runway looks for the season, would you guys like to read that? Let me know!
My absolute favorite trend of the moment, leopard print is such a fun way to make any outfit a million times more interesting. Although I love leopard print (faux) fur coats and printed pants, they’re significantly less wearable in the typical day-to-day. A fun purse (like this Kate Spade one) or a pair of pumps (like these J.Crew ones) are a great way to wear this fun print without worrying about going overboard.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, no matter how hesitant you might be, (trust me, I’m hesitant, too) the 80’s are back. That means shoulder pads, chunky sneakers, and neon. And if I’m gonna be honest, I don’t have any neon in my closet…at least not yet. But when I do reach for bright colors, I’ll be reaching for neon turtlenecks (like this J.Crew one) to layer and, yes, neon bags. (I love this Aldo one)
Logos are another “it” print this fall, but it may seem like the only way to wear this is if you’re head-to-toe outfitted in Fendi or Gucci. Which, much to my dismay, is not a reasonable option for college students. Once again, more subtle pieces are the key to nailing this trend…my top picks include Guess logo tee and this Michael Kors belt.
